Senegalese striker surprised by lack of interest

Mamadou Niang has revealed his disappointment at a lack of interest shown in his services this summer. The Marseille striker has expressed a desire to leave the French champions, keen to take on a fresh challenge elsewhere. At 30 years old he accepts that time is running out on him to experience life in another of Europe's top divisions. The Senegal international admits he had hoped to have been offered an opportunity in England, or a lucrative deal in the Middle East, but is yet to be contacted by any prospective employers. Niang told France Football: "At my age it is perhaps the last chance I will get to have a good challenge abroad.

Dream

"I have never hidden the fact that England has always been my dream. "But no proposal has come, from England or the United Arab Emirates or anywhere else for that matter." On the lack of interest, he added: "I am not offended, just a little bit surprised and disappointed. "I won't hide the fact I was expecting a bit more recognition. "I thought I had proved I could move to a certain level."
