Lille midfielder frustrated by contract talks

Florent Balmont has admitted he is considering his future with Lille after talks over a new deal stalled. The midfielder had been ready to sign a two-year contract extension after an impressive 2009/10 campaign and insists he is still happy at the club. However, he has become frustrated with the lack of progress that has been made in negotiating a new deal and speculation has suggested he could now move on. Balmont accepts that he will have to mull over his options if the current uncertainty at Lille drags on. "My desire is not to leave. I am open to talks," the 30-year-old told L'Equipe. "But I am asking myself if I will remain a Lille player next season. We have reached a standstill. "At my age, I can't make any mistakes. If we can find an agreement, there will be no trouble. But if I have to leave, I will leave. "I thought it would go off smoothly. Talks have not been sorted out so far, and it is surprising. I am asking myself some questions."
