Algerian midfielder could move to England in the summer

Yazid Mansouri has revealed that he came close to signing for a Premier League side in January. In the end he was persuaded to stick with current employers Lorient, but admits he could still be heading for England in the summer. The captain of the Algeria national side believes a deal could be resurrected at the end of the season, allowing him the opportunity to seal a dream switch. Mansouri had been linked with a move to Burnley during the winter transfer window, but the Clarets eventually dropped their interest. A number of eye-catching showings at the 2010 African Cup of Nations brought him back to the fore, though, with an as yet unnamed English club doing their best to land his services. "I was close to agreeing a move to an English club, everything was done," the 31-year-old midfielder wrote on his skyrock page. "I am not saying the name of the club, because Lorient officials have convinced me to stay at the club until the end of the season. "I could, however, join the English club at the end of the season."
