Midfielder returns to homeland

Japan international Junichi Inamoto has left Rennes to join J-League side Kawasaki Frontale. The 30-year-old joined Rennes at the beginning of the season but failed to make an impact despite being reunited with Frederic Antonetti, who had coached him at Gamba Osaka. In a bid to seal a World Cup place in Japan's squad for South Africa, the midfielder decided a return to his homeland would be his best option after managing only five appearances for the Red and Blacks. Frontale would become Inamoto's eighth club since 2001, after previous stints with Arsenal, Fulham, Galatasaray, West Brom, Cardiff City, Eintracht Frankfurt and Rennes. Another J-League outfit Omiya Ardija also expressed their interest in the player but no concrete offer was made.
