Bordeaux have revealed that club captain Alou Diarra is set to sign an extension to his current contract.
The 27-year-old midfielder helped lead Laurent Blanc's side to the Ligue 1 title last season and they are understandably keen to retain his services.
The France international had hinted earlier this summer that he could be tempted to move elsewhere should a suitable offer be forthcoming.
Spanish giants Sevilla were said to be keen, but they have since landed Ivorian enforcer Didier Zokora from Tottenham.
Diarra has, therefore, decided that prolonging his association with Bordeaux is the best course of action, much to the delight of club chairman Jean-Louis Triaud.
"We will meet him very soon," Triaud told L'Equipe.
"In the next few days Alou will sign a new deal and we are very happy about that."
Reports suggest Diarra's new deal will run until the summer of 2013.
