USA international looking forward to playing in France

Sochaux have agreed a deal to sign United States international striker Charlie Davies from Hammarby. Davies impressed during the recent Confederations Cup and the pacey front man is expected to sign a four-year deal at Sochaux. He will help to fill the void created by Mevlut Erdinc's move to Paris St Germain and is looking forward to playing in France. "They want me in the starting XI, they really want me," Davies told Expressen. Hammarby chairman Michael Andersson is disappointed to be losing Davies, but concedes the Swedish club are not able to stand in the 23-year-old's way. Andersson said: "Of course it is sad when a player like Charlie Davies leaves us. "But he is a player who has made great progress and we do not have the resources to keep him. "That is a problem we share with the other clubs in Sweden. At the same time, it's great to see that we can develop players, like we have with Charlie."
