Marseille star Taye Taiwo has told skysports.com that he wants to stay with the French giants.

The highly-rated left-back has been strongly linked with a move to England this summer.

However, the Nigerian international has declared that he is ready to stay put at the Stade Velodrome and even sign a new contract.

"I want to stay in Marseille," he told skysports.com.

"I think we have a good chance to do well next season in the league, and I mean winning the league.

"I also like the new coach [Didier Deschamps], he is similar to Mr Gerets, he was a great winner."

Taiwo insists he is not desperate to move to the Premier League at all costs.

"I don't want to go England just for the sake of going there, I want to stay," he continued.

Marseille had verbally agreed to let Taiwo move to England in the summer if an offer came in - but he is now happy to extend his contract beyond the two years left on his current deal.
