Brazilian outfit Fluminense claim to have reached an agreement with Lyon's wantaway striker Fred.
The forward has endured a turbulent season in France, suffering a fall out with coach Claude Puel and regularly finding himself omitted from the first team.
His contract with the Ligue 1 champions is set to expire in the summer, but Fred has consistently expressed a desire to leave before that point.
He may now get his wish, as Lyon are prepared to terminate his deal and allow him to head back to his homeland as a free agent.
Lyon are yet to confirm that a deal has been struck with Fluminense, as claimed on the South American club's official website, but a club spokesman confirmed that Fred does appears set for an imminent departure.
"It is fair to say that a meeting is set to take place between Fluminense's representatives and chairman Jean-Michel Aulas," said Olivier Blanc.
"We are happy that the player has finally reached an agreement with a Brazilian club.
"Nothing has been completed yet. We want to make progress on the case, but we have to speak with the player.
"Lyon's position has not changed, though, and Fred will be allowed to give up his bonus and return to Brazil as a free agent should he wish."
