Marseille are closing in on the signature of Henrik Larsson, according to their coach Eric Gerets.
The veteran Swede has just finished the season with Helsingborg and is eager for a loan switch away from the club in the January transfer window.
A similar arrangement was agreed with Manchester United two seasons ago and it now looks as though Marseille will profit from the 37-year-old's services.
Larsson has previously been linked with a return to the Premier League but rumours of such a nature have been quiet of late.
Gerets said: "I hope things will come to fruition in the hours or the days ahead - yes, with Larsson it's possible."
Marseille, currently fifth in Ligue 1, have also made enquires about Shakhtar Donetsk's Brandao and Umit Karan of Galatasaray.
