Interest mounts in Malafeev

Zenit St Petersburg and Russia goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev is reported to be interesting Marseille and Villarreal. With the Russian Premier League season drawing to a close Zenit are languishing outside the Champions League spots, and it seems likely that a number of their players may leave to seek out European football during the winter break. 29-year-old Malafeev, Russia's reserve 'keeper at Euro 2008, is expected to fetch €10million. Speaking to Russian newspaper Sport Express, Malafeev admitted he had heard of interest in him from France and Spain. "I know about the interest from these clubs," he said. "However, I will only be able to make a decision whether to leave Zenit or not after consulting the club management and the head coach. "At the end of 2009 my contract with Zenit runs out, and I need to know whether the club will require me in the long term." The Russian press have also claimed that Portsmouth and Tottenham are keeping tabs on him.

Moreno

Meanwhile, Villarreal are also said to be looking at Mexican defender Hector Moreno. The AZ Alkmaar defender only arrived in Holland in January but he has impressed hugely for Louis van Gaal's side.
