French side St Etienne made a superb start to their Uefa Cup Group G campaign with a 3-1 win at FC Copenhagen.
France international Bafetimbi Gomis put the visitors ahead after just two minutes when he headed home a cross from Dimitri Payet.
Gomis then teed up Loïc Perrin for the second goal as he gave St Etienne a 2-0 half-time lead.
Cesar Santin pulled a goal back for Copenhagen when he converted a penalty after he had been fouled by Efstathios Tavlaridis.
But within six minutes Payet restored St Etienne's two-goal advantage as he fired home a left-foot shot from close range.
The other game in the group ended goalless as Rosenborg and Club Brugge ground out a stalemate in Norway.
