Chairman warns Celtic not to bother making an approach

Bordeaux have warned Celtic that Argentine striker Fernando Cavenaghi is not for sale. Cavenaghi has impressed for Bordeaux since joining the French club 18 months ago from Spartak Moscow. He netted 15 goals in 23 Ligue 1 appearances last season and has been linked with a £6million move to Celtic. Though the SPL champions have not made contact regarding Cavenaghi, Bordeaux chairman Jean Louis Triaud says any approach would be futile.

Don't bother

"I haven't had any contact from Celtic with regards to Fernando and nor do I want any," said Triaud in the Daily Record. "Quite simply he is not for sale. No price would convince us to sell him because he is one of our best players and we do not need to sell him. "There are three years left on his contract, he has done well here and is happy. "He is a Bordeaux player, so if Celtic are planning to contact me at any stage about him I would tell them not to bother. "They should save themselves the price of a telephone call and look elsewhere."
