Hull boss says club can offer Frenchman route back into national side

Phil Brown believes Hull City can offer Bernard Mendy a route back into the France national side. The Tigers are keen to land the out-of-contract Paris St Germain full-back as Brown looks to bolster his squad ahead of life in the Premier League. But Hull face competition from clubs in Germany and Italy to land the 26-year-old's signature. Brown, however, is confident of securing his transfer target as he feels playing at the KC Stadium will assist Mendy - who has three caps to his name, the last of which came in 2004 - in resurrecting his international career. The Hull manager, who worked with Mendy during his time at Bolton, told the Hull Daily Mail: "Bernard's got an international history and he's looking to get back to that level.

Ambitions

"He'll have looked at France's exit at Euro 2008 last week and if Raymond Domenech remains in charge or they get a new coach, he will want to be part of the new brigade. "He's 26 and he's got his ambitions to play international football again. That is something he can realise with us, like others have already done. "He's had a substantial offer from Italy and a substantial offer from Germany and we can only do as much as we can to bring him here. "But I would like to think we've matched or more than matched the other offers out there."
