French club track Juventus midfielder

Monaco coach Ricardo has admitted an interest in signing Juventus midfielder Sergio Almiron. The French side, who currently sit ninth in Ligue 1, are looking to bring in a defensive midfielder to bolster their ranks as they bid to climb the table in the second half of the season. And Ricardo has identified Almiron as a possible target in the January transfer window. The 27-year-old has failed to make an impact at Juventus after agreeing a five-year contract last summer and has made only three appearances.

Opportunity

However, Monaco already have the allotted four non-European Union players on their books Ricardo would therefore be forced to sell one of the four non-EU players - Lucas Bernardi, Diego Perez, Souleymane Camara and Mohammed Kallon - already at the Stade Louis II if he was to make a move for Almiron. "He (Almiron) is a good player, a good opportunity," Ricardo told the French media. "But we already have four non-European players under contract." Monaco are also thought to be interested in signing Liverpool's unsettled midfielder Mohamed Sissoko or Middlesbrough's Fabio Rochemback.
