Ligue 2 side Amiens pulled off the shock of the night in the Coupe de la Ligue as they knocked top-flight Strasbourg out on their own ground.

Bakaye Traore gave the Amiens the lead on 58 minutes before striker Foued Kadir rubbed salt into the wounds in the 90th minute, completing an embarrassing evening for the hosts.

Bordeaux, meanwhile, suffered an unexpected defeat at home to Metz.

The high-flying home side took the lead after just three minutes through Gabriel Obertan, but second-half goals from Cedric Barbosa (48) and Cheikh Gueye (77) were enough to secure victory for the Ligue 1 strugglers. Rennes needed extra time and an own goal to get the better of Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot.

Clermont held on for 116 minutes before Olivier Thomert put the ball into his own net, saving the visitors' embarrassment.

In the earlier game, Lens beat Lille 1-0 at the Stade Felix Bolleart.

Belgium striker Luigi Pieroni scored the only goal of the game after six minutes, ensuring Jean-Pierre Papin's passage to the next round.

Championnat National side Laval put on a respectable show at home to Le Mans.

The Ligue 1 side could only manage one goal - a 56th-minute strike from Gervinho - against the minnows, but it was enough to see them through to the next round.

Paris St Germain eased to a 3-0 victory away to Lorient.

The two sides are both currently mid-table in Ligue 1, but PSG had no trouble dispatching their opponents.

Cameroonian forward David N'Gog, 18, claimed goals in the 22nd and 44th minutes to give Paris St Germain a 2-0 lead, before Portuguese veteran Pauleta rounded things off (84). Toulouse were eliminated on penalties by Caen after a thrilling 3-3 draw.

In a back-and-forth game, the visitors, currently bottom of Ligue 1, went ahead via Elliot Grandin (13), but Pantxi Sirieix levelled matters after half an hour before former Santos midfield ace Fabinho put Toulouse in front (45).

But Caen were not finished, and Nicolas Florentin snatched a 55th-minute equaliser, forcing the game into extra time.

However, Fabinho popped up again in the 93rd minute to make it 3-2 to Toulouse - but Caen found an equaliser in the 119th minute through Stephane Samson.

And Caen won out 4-2 in the penalty shoot-out, with Anthony Deroin scoring the winning spot-kick.

Nice progressed at the expense of Ligue 2 Troyes at the Stade de l'Aube.

Former Middlesbrough striker Joseph-Desire Job scored the only goal of the game on 11 minutes.

Valenciennes, currently third in Ligue 1, claimed a 2-1 victory over Sochaux. Rudy Mater (22) put Valenciennes in front, but Sochaux captain Michael Isabey made it 1-1 in the 48th minute.

It was to no avail, though, as Filip Sebo, on loan from Rangers, claimed the winner in the 60th minute.
