Bordeaux chairman Jean-Louis Triaud has spoken of his concern at the whereabouts of Juan Pablo Francia.
The Argentinian playmaker joined Bordeaux in 2001, but during Ricardo Gomes' reign Francia hardly got a look-in.
Laurent Blanc has since taken over from Ricardo, but the 22-year-old is still unsettled, and during the summer he travelled to Argentina to visit his mother, who is unwell.
Triaud explained that Francia has yet to return from his homeland, and also fears that the youngster may quit football altogether.
In the dark
"I decided not to say anything about his absence during the first two days, but he has not come back yet, and we have no news," Triaud told France Football.
"He didn't mention any particular reason. He just sent us a fax saying he wants to stay in Argentina, and he is even asking himself questions about his future in football.
"I don't really understand what is going on in his head, above all for a player of his age.
"I don't know the real reasons for his decision to leave. Does he want to go back and live in Argentina? Does he want to play for another club?
"My first wish is to know what is happening. Then, either he stops playing football, as he seems to be thinking about it, or he fulfils his contract."
