Marseille have suffered a huge blow with the news that goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso is likely to be sidelined for six months.
The Marseille No.1 ruptured his Achilles tendon during training on Wednesday.
Carrasso, who many regard as l'OM's best player so far this season, will undergo surgery later this week.
Marseille have confirmed that they are not planning on signing another goalkeeper, instead they will use French Under 21 star Steve Mandanda, who only joined the club in the summer.
"Everyone is shocked at the club," said sports director Jose Anigo.
"He picked up the injury doing an insignificant thing which he does thousands of times a week. We are not lucky.
"Anyway we don't want to hire another keeper so far. If we feel a problem, then we could ask for a special dispensation (to bring in a keeper after August)."
