Sylvain Wiltord is still interested in a move to Rennes, according to the player's lawyer.
The French striker has been subject of much transfer rumour in the pre-season, but Rennes had recently declared they had ended their pursuit of Wiltord.
French champions Lyon, who the 33-year-old currently plays for, had also confirmed that Wiltord would see out the remaining year on his contract.
However, Wiltord's lawyer, Fabrice Henon-Hilaire, says the forward is still keen on a move to Rennes.
Lyon, though, are unlikely to release the player until the end of August at the earliest because they would be left short of attacking options ahead of the new season, which Wiltord understands.
"We are thinking about that hypothesis," Henon-Hilaire told L'Equipe.
"Meanwhile, Sylvain is acting as an employee in a firm where he is in trouble.
"But the Rennes challenge still excites him."
