Dunfermline fans are believed to have launched a final bid to save the stricken club.
Pars Community, the club's largest supporters group, are thought to have issued the board a last offer to take over the running of the Scottish first division side which could face the threat of liquidation.
Dunfermline are to be issued with a winding up order by Her Majesty Revenue and Customs for over £134,000 in unpaid taxes, but the Pars Community's offer will cover that debt and they have set a deadline of 10am on Friday for the board to respond.
Raith Rovers host Dunfermline on Saturday and will help out their struggling opponents by donating some of the gate receipts.
Sir Alex Ferguson, a former Dunfermline player, has also offered to send a full-strength Manchester United team to play a friendly to help raise funds for the Pars.
