Pars defender will not be forced to serve ban

John Potter has escaped a suspension and will be available for Dunfermline's next Scottish Premier League fixture. The defender saw his appeal against a ban upheld by the Scottish Football Association on Thursday. The Pars used the SFA's new fast-track system to get their claim heard. They believed the decision to dismiss Potter in their 1-0 victory over St Johnstone was wrong.

Caution

Potter was sent off for being the last man, but the Pars have successfully claimed that they had players coming across to cover. Therefore, the decision to show a red card for a foul on Francisco Sandaza has been rescinded. Dunfermline's case was heard by a judicial panel fast track tribunal and they have agreed to reduce the punishment to a caution for unsporting behaviour (deliberate tripping). Potter will now be in contention for the Pars' match against Dundee United on Saturday.
