Dunfermline Athletic have agreed a new deal with striker Noel Hunt after weeks of negotiations.

The former Shamrock Rovers marksman was forced to take a cut on his bonuses last season, so the renewed contract of his basic salary is a timely consolation.

The 21-year old scored just three goals in 2003-2004 in what was an injury hit season for the Irishman.

Now he has regained full fitness, and is keen to start scoring goals for his employees.

"It's great to get it all sorted out. The club kept their promise to speak to me during the summer about a new contract. I feel I have done well here and the gaffer has shown faith in me this term.

"It's all about getting games at my age and to be playing regular first-team football at Dunfermline at 21 is good. I just hope I can bang a few goals in as well.

"Another massive factor is that we are in the UEFA Cup and hopefully we will make it through to the next round on Thursday."
