Dunfermline striker Noel Hunt will be out for at least another five weeks after tests revealed an injury to his heel suffered two months ago is a fracture.

The 20-year-old initially injured himself in July while playing in a pre-season friendly with East Fife.

At the time specialists told him there were no broken bones, but the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has failed to recover from the injury.

Scans have now revealed a fracture in his heel, however doctors are confident the injury will heal naturally with the aid of a removable cast.

Hunt told the Daily Record: "It's frustrating because that's 10 weeks we didn't know about it. Now I've got another three weeks of total rest with the cast on.

"Because the break has been there so long I'll need to build myself back up again. It will take a couple of weeks after that before I can get back playing, that will be about 15 weeks when it could have been a lot less."
