St Mirren have signed former Rangers midfielder Alan Gow after he impressed while on trial with the Paisley club.

The 32-year-old has spent the last 10 days training with Gary Teale's side and played in last week's 2-0 friendly defeat to New York City - Frank Lampard's American team - in Manchester last week.

Teale has seen enough from Gow - whose 13 former clubs include Indian side East Bengal - to offer him a contract until the end of the season.

The player was most recently contracted to Bristol Rovers but left them last year after two years and has been a free agent for several months.

Provided international clearance is received on time, Gow will go into the St Mirren squad for tomorrow's Scottish Premiership fixture against Aberdeen at Pittodrie.

Teale will hope he can help continue the team's push away from relegation danger after it moved up to 10th position for the first time since early November recently thanks to seven points in their last five games.
