McLeish admits winger's representatives have been in touch

Alex McLeish claims he will not be plundering former employers Rangers for their top talent, but admits Gregg Wylde could be an option for Aston Villa. The financial difficulties at Ibrox have placed all of their leading lights in the shop window, with renegotiated contracts believed to include exit clauses. McLeish admits the temptation will be there for some to try and bag a bargain, with the Gers finding themselves in a vulnerable position. He says he has no intention of making the most of the Glasgow giants' troubles, but he is always on the lookout for fresh faces. Highly-rated winger Wylde is one of those he could be willing to bring to Villa Park, with the youngster available as a free agent after severing ties with Rangers.

Damage

"I wouldn't be comfortable at all about going back and plundering Rangers," said McLeish. "I suppose Gregg Wylde is in a different situation because he has left the club. Whether we go for Gregg...I think he is a player for the future personally. "His people have been in touch but we haven't taken it any further. "Maybe he could do so some damage in a short space of time between now and the end of the season. "But I have got great faith in the players that are here to show that they can get us up the table and catch (Saturday's opponents) Fulham."
