Dundee United are set to lose full-back Christian Kalvenes in the summer

Full-back set to return home to Norway when contract expires

Dundee United are set to lose full-back Christian Kalvenes in the summer. The Norwegian has informed United boss Craig Levein that he wants to return to his homeland when his contract expires. Kalvenes was signed in a £50,000 deal from Brann Bergen 18 months ago and has since become a valued part of the side, with United losing six of their last eight games since he was sidelined with a hamstring injury. But if the Norwegian was to go, United have recently signed left-back Danny Grainger from Gretna, which would offset his loss. Speaking of the situation, United boss Craig Levein told the Daily Record: "I haven't spoken to Christian since we had a brief chat back in October or November.

Likelihood

"But he indicated at that time in all likelihood he'd be going home in the summer so we'll wait and see what happens." While Kalvenes could be on the move, Levein himself has indicated he wants to stay at Tannadice, despite speculation linking him to the vacant Hearts' post. But Levein said: "I'm not interested in talk like this. I just want to concentrate on what I consider a big enough job here without worrying about anything else."
