Motherwell striker Michael Higdon spent the night in police custody - just hours after winning the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award.
Police have confirmed a 29-year-old man is the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal after an alleged assault at a nightclub in Glasgow in the early hours of Monday morning.
The Motherwell ace, who has scored 26 goals so far this season, received his award at a ceremony at the Hilton hotel on Sunday evening.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "A 29-year-old man is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal in connection with an alleged assault at a nightclub in Ingram Street in Glasgow at 1.25am today."
A press conference with Higdon, due to take place at 8.30am, was subsequently cancelled.
