Straker fee set by tribunal

Southend have been ordered to pay Aldershot £17,500 for the services of Anthony Straker after a tribunal hearing on Monday.

The left-back moved between the two clubs over the summer having been out of contract at the Recreation Ground, but as he was under the age of 24 and was offered fresh terms by the Shots then the Hampshire club are due a compensation payment. Southend and Aldershot could not agree on a figure and that has now finally been set by the Professional Football Compensation Committee (PFCC). The figure will rise by a further £5,000 should the Shrimpers achieve promotion this season or next, while Aldershot also have a 20% sell-on clause inserted into the package should Straker move on in the future. Straker is set to come face-to-face with his former employers when Southend host Aldershot in League Two on Tuesday night.
