Stephen McManus is hoping Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray will give him a chance to stay at the club.
The pair previously worked together at Celtic, but the Scottish international was sold by Mowbray to Boro.
Now reunited on Teesside, McManus is hoping he will be part of Mowbray's long-term plans having just returned to fitness following an ankle injury.
"I'm not sure what is going to happen. It will be down to the manager," he told the Daily Record.
"But I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here and I am still enjoying it.
"I thought my season was finished and I was looking forward to next term.
"But I'm fit now and I've come on in two games and had one start, which has been great. Hopefully, it will continue and we can push on."
McManus is full of praise for Mowbray, adding: "The gaffer has been absolutely first class with me."
