Motherwell have been dealt a body blow, with the news that Keith Lasley will not play again this term.
The midfielder was stretchered off during Saturday's 1-0 win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle and manager Maurice Malpas admitted at the time that the outlook was not good.
Scans have revealed that Lasley has suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury and will play no further part in the club's campaign.
"It's a real blow," said Malpas. "Keith has been excellent for us."
Lasley only moved to Fir Park in the summer, but he will now have to concentrate on returning to fitness in time for next term.
