Northern Ireland boss Lawrie Sanchez has called up three new faces for next week's friendly with Portugal.

Hibernian's Dean Shiels, Motherwell ace Brian McLean and Linfield striker Peter Thompson have all been handed their first call-ups.

The young trio have been given their chance as Sanchez is without a number of regulars.

Captain Aaron Hughes misses out through injury as does top scorer David Healy.

Goalkeeper Roy Carroll, Damien Johnson and Chris Baird are also unavailable for Sanchez.

Northern Ireland face World Cup bound Portugal at Windsor Park on Tuesday.
