Well grab late point

Motherwell grabbed a dramatic late point against Dunfermline with an injury time strike from Martyn Corrigan handing them a 2-2 draw.

Stevie Crawford and Craig Brewster had given Dunfermline a 2-0 advantage at half time at Fir Park, before the hosts produced a strong second-half comeback.

Stephen Pearson (pictured) gave the hosts hope by pulling a goal back with 20 minutes left to play and an exciting finish ended with Corrigan popping up to head in the equaliser in injury time.

Well boss Terry Butcher was delighted with the spirit shown by his side and in they way they battled back from 2-0 down to grab a draw.

"It felt like a victory for us," said Butcher.

"Just before we got the goal, I was rehearsing my speech to say that we had deserved something for our second-half performance.

"I'm delighted with the players' attitude and character and their never-say-die spirit.

"For Martyn of all people to score was a fantastic feeling.

"A year ago we would have gone on to lose three or four goals - but there is a belief this season that we can get back into the game."

Pars boss Jimmy Calderwood was deflated after the result and felt exactly the opposite to Butcher.

"It feels like a defeat," said Calderwood after watching his men throw away a two-goal lead.

"It is very frustrating although we knew it was never going to be an easy game.

"Motherwell are the form team at the moment, but we had a commanding lead at half time.

"I don't want to take anything away from Motherwell because they battled away as we knew they would but we did lose two soft goals.

"In the end they probably deserved a draw."
