Dundee United have signed former Hearts midfielder Rudi Skacel on a deal that will keep the player at Tannadice until the end of January.
The 33-year-old, who has been without a club since leaving Hearts at the end of last season, had been linked with a return to Tynecastle.
United boss Peter Houston hopes the arrival of the Czech playmaker will bring an added dimension to his team's attack, as they seek to climb up the Premier League table.
Skacel enjoyed two spells with Hearts and scored over 40 goals with the Edinburgh team.
Houston said: "I feel Rudi can add an attacking spark to our team. Players of his quality do not present themselves to you too often and I am delighted to be able to bring him to Tannadice.
"The length of the deal gives both of us a chance to have a good look at each other and I feel our younger, less experienced players will benefit from Rudi's involvement at the Club.
"His goal scoring ability should make him a fans' favourite."
