Lee Wilkie is looking forward to forging a strong partnership with Darren Dods at Dundee United.
Wilkie put pen-to-paper on a new two-year deal at Tannadice on Wednesday and will have a new central defensive partner next season in Dods.
Dods has signed a pre-contract agreement with United and will move from Inverness Caledonian Thistle in June.
Wilkie believes the physical presence he and Dods brings will intimidate opposition strikers in the SPL next season.
"Signing Darren is a very positive move and I can't wait to start playing alongside him," Wilkie told the Daily Record.
"He's a proven SPL player and the main man up at Inverness Caley Thistle so he'll be a great addition.
"If we play together it will give us a good physical presence at the back.
"I don't know exactly how a striker thinks but I do know a few of them are not the bravest guys in the world.
"Hopefully it will be a bit intimidating for them playing against two defenders as big as us. Maybe we could bully some of them."
Meanwhile, defender Garry Kenneth has joined Cowdenbeath on loan until the end of the season.
