Dundee United boss Craig Brewster is still confident he will sign Ian Black and David Proctor from former club Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Defender and captain Darren Dods is also wanted by Brewster - but he looks set to remain at The Caledonian Stadium.
Brewster held talks with Caley boss Charlie Christie and director of football Graeme Bennett - and he is hopeful of the outcome.
"That is what we talked about (signing Black and Proctor) and I will now have to wait and see what Graeme and Charlie come up with," said the Tannadice boss - who also just released Craig Samson.
Christie is hopeful his charges will remain with The Highlands outfit.
"I'm confident when they think long and hard about it such a move might not be as glamorous as it first appeared," Christie (pictured) added.
Meanwhile, Caley have confirmed that Dennis Wyness has officially rejoined the club.
The former Caley favourite signed a pre-contract in January and now he is back with the club he left some two years ago - when he signed for Hearts.
"There's no doubt moving to Hearts for a couple years meant he's done quite well financially out of it and I'm delighted for him. He's one of those individuals in football who thoroughly deserves it, " Christie said.
"We've taken him back up here and we've agreed terms and made them as agreeable as we could. He's delighted about it."
