Dundee United player-manager Craig Brewster faces a spell on the sidelines after breaking his leg.

Brewster, who was making his debut against Aberdeen last weekend, lasted only 27 minutes before limping off.

Tests have now shown that Brewster has suffered a hairline fracture of the tibia.

Brewster is hoping that the injury will not sideline him for too long.

"It could have been worse. I knew right away that it was something serious but this diagnosis means that I shouldn't be out too long," Brewster told the club's official website.

"It will be re-assessed in a couple of weeks' time and we'll take it from there.

"It's disappointing, but we have the players to cope.

"Their response this week has been excellent and they know what is expected of them."
