DUNDEE UNITED have been boosted by the news that Jim Paterson has signed a new two-year contract to remain at Tannadice.

The 23-year-old, who has been plagued by a succession of injuries during his time with The Tangerines, bagged one goal last season in 33 appearances.

United manager Ian McCall was keen for him to commit his future, after revealing a side South of the Border was monitoring his progress.

"Jim has done well since I came here and I am very pleased he has accepted our offer of a new deal," explained McCall.

"In the last two years he has been very unlucky with injuries, but I feel if he can get a good couple of years problem free you are looking at having a very good player on the books.

"There was one club here and a team in England who wanted him, but we are pleased he feels this is the place to be."
