Falkirk's inconsistent run of form continued as they were thrashed 4-1 by Cowdenbeath at Central Park.

Lyle Taylor's early goal proved to be all Falkirk could muster and they conceded four goals for the second time in four games after scoring four themselves in their last two outings.

Taylor opened the scoring inside two minutes when he chased a lost cause down the left before breaking into the area, beating his marker on a number of occasions and firing a cross-shot into the far corner.

They maintained the lead until 10 minutes before half-time but were then hit with a quick double salvo from Cowdenbeath.

John Armstrong prodded them level on 35 from close range and Kane Hemmings put Cowdenbeath in front three minutes later with a powerful half-volley past keeper Michael McGovern.

Jay Fulton and Johnny Flynn wasted chances to bring the Bairns level and Cowdenbeath put the seal on things 17 minutes from time when Armstrong rose and headed his second goal of the game.

They added a fourth goal just as the 90 minute mark arrived with Jamie Stevenson's 30-yard free-kick taking a wicked deflection that gave McGovern no chance of making a save.
