Steven Pressley's Falkirk held highflying Partick Thistle to a 0-0 draw in the Scottish First Division.

Highflying Thistle had the best of the early chances and Ross Forbes shot from 25 yards and over Michael McGovern's crossbar.

Bairns' Kieran Duffie then latched on to a partially cleared corner but Forbes rushed in to block bravely before the hosts wasted another good chance.

A loose ball fell to Lyle Taylor but the forward's cross narrowly eluded David Weatherston before finding Stewart Murdoch, who flashed his header just wide of Scott Fox's post, with the visiting keeper static.

Chris Erkstine then put ex-Bairn Steven Craig clean through on goal but his meek effort trundled through to a grateful McGovern and Luke Leahy's deflected throughball fell kindly for Stephen Kingsley but the young defender was expertly denied by the outrushing Fox.

McGovern held on to Sean Welsh's fierce shot before half-time and Erkstine hit the side netting after the interval before Conrad Balatoni blocked Murdoch's shot, Ryan McGeever had a header cleared off the goalline with Darren Dods' follow-up just missing the target.

Patrick Doolan had a low drive held as the Jags went for broke while defender Dods almost proved the unlikely matchwinner when he headed narrowly wide late on.
