Patrick Gregg fired Falkirk in front after 17 minutes when he converted from the penalty spot, but Barry Robson drew United level four minutes before the break.

Falkirk restored their lead right on the stroke of half-time when Stephen O'Donnell found the net.

Gow took centre stage in the second half when he scored Falkirk's third on 63 minutes and he made the game safe with his second on 74 minutes.

The impressive winger completed his hat-trick in the final minute to seal a good day at the office for John Hughes' men.

Inverness moved into eighth spot with a 2-1 win over St Mirren

Graham Bayne gave Inverness the perfect start with the opener after just five minutes and Dennis Wyness doubled the advantage on 22 minutes.

Kirk Broadfoot pulled a goal back for St Mirren 13 minutes from time, but Inverness held on to take all three points.
