West Brom new-boy Scott Allan has revealed he turned down the advances of both Rangers and Celtic in favour of a move to The Hawthorns.
The Scotland Under-21 international signed for the Premier League club from Dundee United in a deal worth around £300,000 penning a two-and-a-half-year deal with the West Midlands club.
Allan, who grew up in Glasgow, spurned the advances of the Old Firm and insisted that he never had any doubts about trying his luck south of the border.
"They were options for me," he said. "I only live five minutes from one of the clubs, so it was a hard decision, but in the end I made it purely to do with football."
Despite only making nine appearances for Tannadice club this season due to a contract dispute, Allan admitted it was an England legend that inspired him to become a midfielder.
"My role model as a football player was Paul Gascoigne, because I used to go and watch him every week (at Rangers).
"I always like players who like to get on the ball, just good footballers. I would love to live up to what he's done."
