Colchester have told defender Alan Maybury he is free to look for another club before the transfer window closes.
The former Leeds and Leicester full-back has not figured for the U's so far this season under new manager John Ward. "We think it's time for him to move on," said Ward. "He's a very good professional, but we have had a chat about it and we feel that would be the best scenario." Maybury has made 29 appearances for Colchester since joining from Leicester in December 2008.
