Alan Maybury is set to move back to England after turning down a new deal with Aberdeen.
The former Hearts full-back only returned to Scotland in January, arriving at Pittodrie on a short-term deal from Leicester.
Yet despite being offered a two-year contract with the Dons, the 29-year-old Republic of Ireland international admits he favours a move south.
"I'd prefer to return to England but we'll wait and see what happens," he told the Daily Record.
"My agent has been speaking to other clubs and it's a bit of a waiting game at the moment but I hope to sort things out in the next 10 days."
Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock has already denied any interest in the former Leeds trainee.
