Hibernian's Derek Riordan ensured it was not an Old Firm-dominated ceremony as he scooped the Young Player of the Year award.

Rangers midfielder Fernando Ricksen and Celtic striker John Hartson shared the Player of the Year prize, the first time it has happened in the 28-year history of the awards, but Edinburgh got in on the act in the shape of Riordan.

The 23-year-old has had a fantastic season and it is likely his 22 goals tipped the balance in his favour.

"It is a big honour," Riordan told Sky Sports News. "I have had a good season this season, which has obviously helped me.

"I have scored a few goals which has probably helped me win this award and I am delighted.

"The team has created a lot of chances, so it is going well."
