Dean Shiels' impressive form with Hibernian this season has not gone unnoticed by Northern Ireland manager Lawrie Sanchez.The former Arsenal star is in his debut campaign with Hibs and was rewarded for his displays with a new five-year deal earlier this year.
Sanchez is delighted with the 20-year-old's progress and finds it surprising that someone so young has secured regular first-team football.
"I've been pleasantly surprised to see just how well Dean has been doing, he's had a great first season for Hibs," explained Sanchez.
"Usually in a first season a young player will come in and out of the team over the months but it's surprising to see Dean starting virtually every game.
"He's obviously doing fantastically well for his club and it was tremendous to see he had scored another goal in the Edinburgh derby."
