Hibernian have snapped up former Middlesbrough defender David Murphy after he impressed on trial.

Murphy has penned a two-year deal at Easter Road after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.

Hibs boss Tony Mowbray has made a new left back a top priority after losing Roland Edge and Yannick Zamberbardi at the end of last season and he was happy to have landed Murphy.

"He is a talented young man, who possesses all the physical attributes to compete in The SPL," Mowbray told the club's official website.

Murphy added: "I felt I fitted well into the team last Saturday, the players here are very welcoming.

"I was impressed with the standard of football at the club - in particular the passing of the ball."
