Cumbrians send appeal to FA

Carlisle have lodged their appeal against striker Lee Miller's straight red card during Saturday's defeat at Hartlepool.

Miller was controversially sent off by referee Rob Madeley for his first-half challenge on Hartlepool midfielder Andy Monkhouse and manager Greg Abbott confirmed after the match that he was considering an appeal. The club have handed all their evidence on to the FA's disciplinary panel, who are expected to announce their decision later this week. Miller faces an automatic three-match ban if the club's appeal is unsuccessful meaning the Scot would miss home games against Chesterfield and Tranmere, plus the visit to Stevenage in between.
