Bluebirds manager releases five men following play-off defeat

Cardiff manager Dave Jones has parted ways with five players as he looks to rebuild his squad. The Bluebirds narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League on Saturday when they were defeated 3-2 by Blackpool in the Championship play-off final. And Jones has set about a clean-up of his side ahead of next season, showing the door to number two goalkeeper Peter Enckelman, versatile Tony Capaldi, strikers Warren Feeney and Josh Magennis and defender Aaron Morris. Midfielder Riccy Scimeca also departs the club after retiring from professional football due to an injury sustained during Cardiff's recent campaign. Meanwhile, Jones is looking to persuade out-of-contract midfielder Joe Ledley to pen a new deal at the Welsh club, but the Bluebirds are set for a compensation fee if the 23-year-old decides to go elsewhere. Defender Miguel Comminges, who has been plagued by injury of late, has signed a sixth-month contract, while professional deals have been offered to young duo Jonathan Meades and Jordan Santiago.
