Livingston captain Jason Talbot has accepted a two-match ban following his high tackle on Hearts winger Sam Nicholson.

Talbot received a yellow card for the challenge but the incident was reviewed by the Scottish FA’s compliance officer Tony McGlennan who offered Talbot the suspension.

Talbot accepted the ban which comes in to effect immediately and will miss this weekend’s game which is also against Hearts at Tynecastle.

Nicholson had to be substituted due to the severity of his injuries and later needed stitches to his head and face.

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson spoke of his anger at the incident in his post-match press conference after Hearts' 3-2 victory.

"Sam's not in great condition,” Neilson said. “He'll be fine in a few days but the boy has puncture marks all over his face.

"I didn't think it was a great tackle, you get rough play at this level and sometimes players can go over the line. I have told the referee exactly how I feel about it."

Livingston said that Talbot has also issued a personally apology to Nicholson for the tackle.
