Hearts manager John McGlynn felt Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph was a lucky man to have avoided a red card during the 0-0 draw at Fir Park.

Randolph caught Callum Paterson with his leg as he collected a high ball in the early exchanges but referee Crawford Allan deemed the challenge not worthy of a card of any description.

McGlynn said: "We thought his foot was in a place where it probably shouldn't have been, to be honest.

McGlynn: It was tough

"I don't think the boy was being malicious about it but it could have ended up worse than it actually was. I think he maybe got lucky.

"I haven't seen it again, but that's how I saw it. I think his leg seemed to go in an unnatural position.

"I think Callum has actually passed the boy's knee. I think it was his trailing foot. He had a sore head at half-time and took painkillers."
