Hearts boss Valdas Ivanauskas has made the club's first pre-season signing, bringing Mauricio Pinilla in on a season-long loan from Sporting Lisbon.
The 22-year-old Chilean international has moved from the Jose Alvalade in search of regular top flight football in Scotland.
Boss Valdas Ivanauskas has welcomed the capture and has told the former Racing Santander striker that he will be the master of his own destiny at Tynecastle.
"He has another football culture and that is important for us. We have a lot of foreign players so he will integrate in the team, but he must work hard for a place in the team," Ivanauskas told the club's website.
"He has quality, but he must try in training and in every game. He has a big chance to play.
"The season is very long and we need options. Last season we had five strikers, but there were just two - Calum Eliot and Michal Pospisil. He has a chance to play as he also has quality.
"For me it is not about being expensive or cheap. It is about whether he is a good player or not a good player.
"If he gives a maximum for the team and in training then he plays."
The news will come as a boost to The Jambos ahead of their UEFA Champions League second round, second leg tie against Siroki Brijeg next Wednesday.
